Job Title: VP Senior Credit Underwriter
We are a full-service community bank looking for an experienced VP Senior Credit Underwriter to join our team in the Duluth area.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher

• At least 10 years of experience in credit underwriting

• Knowledge of lending operations and closing procedures

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

• Experience in commercial underwriting (not mortgage)

Responsibilities:

• Work with Loan Officers and clients to review new and renewal loan applications.

• Collect and analyze financial documents for credit approval.

• Conduct initial credit assessments or escalate complex cases as needed.

• Prepare credit reports with financial analysis and recommendations.

• Ensure all documentation meets compliance and internal policies.

• Assess loan details, including:

  • Amortization schedules

  • Loan-to-value ratios

  • Interest rates and fees

• Analyze financial statements, tax returns, and cash flow projections.

• Identify discrepancies in financial data and address concerns.

• Research industry trends and compare borrower performance to peers.

• Evaluate business history, management experience, and guarantor support.

• Assist loan closers in gathering required documentation.

• Keep accurate records and follow proper filing procedures.

• Mentor new hires and support training efforts.

• Stay updated on banking regulations and complete required training.

• Attend meetings and contribute to process improvements.

• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
