Safety Coordinator Position Purpose
The Safety Coordinator will be responsible for providing administration and monitoring of safety training programs company-wide for Kirby-Smith Machinery. The Safety Coordinator will also serve as a safety and compliance resource for management and respond to requests for information and assistance with the company's safety and compliance program.

Safety Coordinator Essential Functions
- Communicates and supports the Kirby-Smith vision and core values of One Mission, One Team, One Plan, One Goal
- Monitor and administer a company-wide safety program
- Partner with Managers in all areas of safety to reduce accident and incident rates
- Conduct training classes utilizing various mediums
- Develop safety tools, which include providing topics for weekly safety meetings, reporting solutions for accident prevention, etc.
- Conduct safety walkthroughs to identify unsafe conditions and recommend safeguards and solutions
- Administer the collection of monthly safety deliverables and other data
- Monitors and administers employee return-to-work programs
- Manages company's FMCSA account
- Plans and implements OHS (Occupational Health and Safety) policies and programs
- Coordinate required safety evacuation drills for fire or earthquake, and safety drills for tornadoes
- Advises and leads employees on various safety-related topics
- Reviews existing policies and procedures
- Adhere to all rules and regulations
- Works with HR to set up a new employee onboarding process for safety
- Conducts risk assessment and enforces preventative measures
- Prepares and presents reports on accidents and violations, and determines causes
- Collaborates with management to develop, prepare, and implement safety and security policies and procedures
- Coordinates the safety and security programs to promote and ensure a safe working environment
- Reviews current safety training and recommends revisions, improvements, and updates
- Submits recommendations for improvements and additions to the safety management program, including emergency preparedness, accident prevention, general safety, and risk management
- Stops operations and activities that could harm staff or equipment
- Identifies opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems
- Shares environmental safety information with appropriate levels in the organization
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules
- Ensures consistent and reliable on-site attendance
- Performs other duties as assigned
Safety Coordinator Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Two (2) years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred
- Must have the ability to travel
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills
- Knowledge of state, federal, and occupational safety and health regulations
- Must be self-directed and work well in a team environment
- Must be a strategic thinker to understand long-term safety strategies
- Must possess a high energy level and the skills to influence others to achieve results
- Must be patient and possess excellent listening skills
- Ability to understand opposing points of view
- Complex Reading/Writing Skills
- Analysis/Comprehension
- Basic Math Skills
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications, such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Safety Coordinator Physical Requirements
- Seeing, Hearing/Listening, Color Perception (Red, Green, Amber), Clear Speech, Touching (Dexterity, Hand, Finger)
- Pushing/Pulling/Lifting/Carrying 25 pounds, Driving (local/over the road), Sitting Long Periods, Standing Long Periods, Climbing/Descending Ladders
