Position Overview
Zenius Corporation is seeking a highly skilled and persuasive Grants Writer to lead the development of compelling, well-researched proposals in support of our public sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for researching funding opportunities, drafting high-quality grant applications, and supporting cross-functional teams to secure new funding and expand our impact.
This role requires exceptional writing skills, attention to detail, and a strong understanding of federal, state, and private grant requirements. The ideal candidate is proactive, deadline-driven, and thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Grant Proposal Development
Research, draft, and edit grant proposals, letters of inquiry, concept papers, and supporting documents.
Develop clear, concise, and compelling narratives aligned with funder priorities and program goals.
Collaborate with program managers, subject matter experts, and finance teams to gather data and shape proposals.
Funding Research & Strategy
Monitor and analyze funding opportunities from federal, state, local, and private sources.
Build and maintain a database of prospective funders and track submission deadlines.
Evaluate Requests for Proposals (RFPs), Notices of Funding Opportunity (NOFOs), and guidelines for fit and compliance.
Grant Submission & Compliance
Prepare and package complete application submissions, including narrative, budget, and required attachments.
Ensure all applications comply with funder requirements, deadlines, and formatting guidelines.
Assist in the post-submission process, including clarifications, award notifications, and initial reporting setup.
Team Collaboration & Reporting
Participate in proposal strategy sessions, kickoff meetings, and internal reviews.
Maintain records of submitted proposals and outcomes for tracking and performance analysis.
Support storytelling, impact reporting, and communication materials when required.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor s degree in English, Public Administration, Communications, or a related field.
Minimum 3 years of experience writing successful grant proposals for government and/or philanthropic funders.
Proven ability to translate complex technical or programmatic concepts into accessible, persuasive narratives.
Strong knowledge of federal grant structures and requirements (e.g., HHS, DOE, DOJ, NSF, etc.).
Excellent research, writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with platforms such as Grants.gov, SAM.gov, JustGrants, or eCivis.
Knowledge of budgeting and basic financial principles in grant proposals.
Experience in nonprofit, education, health, or technology sectors is a plus.
Experience supporting business development or capture efforts in government contracting environments.
